Consistently the Highest Quality Sod – Thicker, Finer, and Greener Marathon is comprised of
proprietary grass varieties, which have been rigorously tested for adaptability to Southern
California climate and soils. Ideal growing conditions in coastal Ventura County result in
healthy, vigorous sod with no risk of plant damage from extreme weather conditions. All fields
are laser leveled to be perfectly flat prior to each planting. As a result, sod is perfectly uniform
in thickness and moisture at harvest. Higher seed rates and closer plant spacing using our
patented seeder result in denser turf. All fields are mowed with reel-type mowers as opposed to
rotary mowers resulting in grass that is cleanly cut with a scissors-like action, not chopped or
torn. Marathon is dark green naturally.

Southland Sod Farms will provide replacement sod at no charge as needed to replace any
dead areas of a Marathon® Lawn within one year of installation.

                                         The following conditions will apply:

Lawn owner must demonstrate that he has made a reasonable effort to care for the lawn
properly in terms of installation, watering, fertilizing, and mowing. Fertilizing with Marathon®
fertilizers is recommended. Lawn owner must notify Southland Sod within 10 days of the first
appearance of dead lawn areas. Lawns without a permanent underground irrigation system will
not qualify for replacement. An automatic controller is also recommended. Lawns laid in shaded
areas limiting sunlight to less than 50% of sunlight will not qualify for replacement. Lawn areas
burned by pet urine, or by improper application of fertilizers or chemicals will not qualify for
replacement. Lawn areas that have been previously replaced under this guarantee will not
qualify for additional replacement.

This guarantee is limited to supplying replacement sod only. No labor charges, pesticide
treatments, delivery, or other costs are covered.
